Eruption
In 1815 Mt Tambora erupted. It was the largest volcanic eruption in modern day history. Before Mt Tambora erupted it was 4300 metres high, where as now it is 2850 metres high. The latest eruption of Mt Tambora was in 1967 but it was a very small, non-explosive eruption.
The large magma chamber inside the mountain filled up over time causing it to erupt.
The volcanic eruption of these kinds of volcanoes is highly explosive and damaging. They can cause many deaths, tsunamis and climate changes. They look like big eruptions as opposed to lava flowing down the slopes.
